Meet BenBen!

One of the celebrikitties coming to CatCon for the first time is @benbencatcat, aka “the saddest cat on the internet”. We talked with him about his fam, his heroes, and, TBH, how very NOT sad his life is at the moment!

TBT to our humble beginnings and when BenBen was truly “the saddest cat on the internet” (<- google that if you are unfamiliar with the story of BenBen). Before @lovemeowsite made our story viral we were just two people who wanted to save to one tiny, broken, kitten from impending death. Little did we know this guy would change our lives forever in the best of ways. He doesn’t have much of a voice (literally), but he had a story and he wanted everyone to hear it. The screen cap is from August 1st, 2016. Just 1 month after starting his social media accounts so people could follow his recovery. It would be another 4 months before he broke the internet… and Reddit. #thisisbenben #benbencatcat #tbt #throwbackthursday #humblebeginnings #thesaddestcatontheinternet #rememberto #adoptdontshop #rescuepetsarethebest #thankyoueveryone #9lives #probablyusedatleast7ofthem #maybe8 #rescuecat #cats #orangecat #catsofmeowfest #catsofinstagram #cats_of_instagram #rescuecatsofinstagram #rescuecats #wecouldnthavedoneitwithoutyou #supportbanningdeclawing

CatCon: How old are you, and where do you live?
BenBen:
I am 4 years old and live in British Columbia in Canada.

Tell us how you met your human mommy and daddy.
I met CatMom first when I was brought an animal emergency room; she was one of the Vet Techs that helped me! She then told CatDad about how sad and broken I was and CatDad insisted that she bring me home. It was love at first sight and CatDad is my hooooman ❤️

Do you have any sibs? Tell us a bit about them.

I have 3 siblings. Jerry, Moe and Norman. Jerry is the eldest at 11 y/o, he’s fluffy and grey and has been with CatMom since the beginning. Jerry is the reason CatDad loves cats so much.

Moe is the only lady feline in the home. She came from a hoarding situation as very under socialized adult and has been flourishing and growing into her personality every day. She has been with our family almost 4 years now. Norman is baby! He has mild cerebellum hypoplasia which affects the area in the brain that control his motor skills. This means he has no balance and so the weirdest most special kitty around!

What’s your typical day like?
A typical day in the life of Ben; I trot around the bed waking up both my hoomans for breakfast, eat as many kibbles as I can fit into my belly! Proceed by having a mid morning nap in CatDads favourite spot on the couch.

Wrestle all afternoon with my little brother Norman, make sure that whatever was on the coffee table is now on the floor. Another nap while I wait for hoomans to get home from work.

Dinner time means more kibble, post meal pooooooop and zoomies around the house.

End the night by sleeping on CatMoms pillow all night.

What are you most looking forward to when you come to California for CatCon in June?
This is my first CatCon and I am looking forward to meeting all my fans in the U.S the most! There are so many rescues we follow and I cannot wait to meet the lovely people that make rescue work possible.

Who are your heroes?
All the people who have donated to help save homeless animals in their neighbourhood, all the animals who are waiting for their forever homes and all the people who fight to find them homes!

Also Stan Lee ❤️.

What is your motto in life?

Every animal deserves a second chance! Also, always eat the cheese!!
