CATCON CELEBRATES NATIONAL CAT LADY DAY

LOS ANGELES, Calif., April 19, 2021 — CatCon – the biggest cat-centric, pop culture event in the world – celebrates cat ladies everywhere on National Cat Lady Day (Monday, April 19th) with the premiere of You and Me on Instagram and YouTube

This short form piece features over 70 user-generated images and videos, celebrating the connection women share with their beloved four legged fur babies. National Cat Lady Day was created by CatCon founder Susan Michals in 2017; since then, women around the world have showcased their cat pride with nearly 10,000 uses of the hashtag.

“The notion of the cat lady as a dowdy spinster is something that has been around for centuries, and it’s only just now that the world if finally coming around to recognize that being a lover of cats is not a negative thing,” said CatCon creator Susan Michals, “Being a cat lady  is something to be celebrated. These creatures offer us unconditional love and affection, and it’s only when you add the word crazy that people turn it into a negative. Powerful women like Dita Von Teese, Grace Coddington, Taylor Swift, and Kate McKinnon embrace their love of the feline with enthusiasm!”

CatCon creator Susan Michals has an extensive background in television, film and journalism (The Wall Street Journal, artnet News, and The Huffington Post). She has one cat, Miss Kitty Pretty Girl, (aka The CatCon Muse) and a dog named Buddy.
