Celebrities and Their Shelter Cat Namesakes

It all started with the shelter cat that looked just like Adam Driver. The uncanny resemblance went viral, and thanks to the attention Corey the cat found his forever home and a new name —Kylo Ren, of course! Since then, rescues and shelters have caught on that amazing names and a peek at their kitties sparkling personalities can really help bring attention to their fosters and adoptees. Like Austin Pets Alive, whose residents Jude PAW, JRR Tolkitten, David Hasselhoff and James PURRL Jones helped shine a spotlight on their no-kill shelter.

Then there are rescues like @bowie_the_cat that share an aesthetic similarity to the humans they’re named after, earning them instant fandom.

Sometimes, a cat in need comes to the attention of the celebrity they’re named after. That’s what happened when Halle Berry (who played Catwoman in 2004, never forget!) retweeted Michigan Humane’s own Halle Berry.

But no one committed to the cause more than Dennis Quaid, who, hearing about the feline Dennis Quaid at the Lynchburg Humane in Virginia, reached out with an offer to adopt him. “I’m out to save all the Dennis Quaids of the world,” he said.

Earlier this month on “The Drew Barrymore Show”, Drew and her co-host Ross Mathews learned they, too, have kitty namesakes. As a bonded pair, Drew and Ross in Princeton, Minnesota are looking for a forever home with room and love for them both.

Do you have a cat who’s named after a famous person? Tag @catconworldwide on Instagram and we may feature them in a future Kitty Round-up!
