Morris, The O.G. Celebricat

Before the internet, before Instagram, before even MySpace (ask your parents), there was Morris, the original celebricat. And joined us exclusively at CatCon, August 4th and 5th, for Meet and Greets both days.

Team CatCon had a chance to chat with the sassy spokescat and we have to admit, even we were a little starstruck. Get to know this fabulous, finicky feline and his plans for CatCon 2018.

CATCON: Morris, on a scale of 1-10, how excited are you for CatCon 2018?

Morris the Cat: I’d have to go with 11. Shaking paws, licking babies, taking selfies and promoting cat adoption to a Convention filled with cat lovers… it’s all in a day’s work when you’re a celebricat, but this is going to be CAT-TASTIC. Not to mention all the 9Lives I’ll be eating. If I’m not out to meet my fans, you’ll find me in my trailer with all the free samples.

What’s the one thing people don’t know about you?

I was originally a rescue cat and that this year marks my 50th Adopt-i-versary! My pet parents adopted me from the Hinsdale Humane Society in Illinois and supported my rise to fame as the official spokescat of 9Lives. It’s been a whirlwind since I clawed my way up to the top and I can’t wait to share my story with everyone at CatCon.

CatCon: Why do you think 9Lives chose you for the job?

I think it’s my unrelenting cat-titude and charming paw-sonality. Don’t believe me? Check meowt here, for example.

What has been your biggest accomplishment since becoming the 9Lives Spokescat?

I’m kind of a Big Deal. I ran for president, was named “Animal Star of the Year” and starred in countless 9Lives commercials. I even won an award for my fur-bulous acting skills! But my biggest accomplishment? The work I’ve done for shelter cats across the country.

What has that work en-TAIL-ed? (‘scuse the pun)

I toured the country and created Morris’ Million Cat Rescue. After years of living the good life with 9Lives, I finally reached my goal of putting over 1,000,000 cats in a loving home. I like to think of myself as an inspirational meower.

You decided to grace CatCon with your presence this year. Why is that?

CatCon is known as “the convention with cattitude” and, as you know by now, Cat-titude is my middle name. CatCon also supports adoption, which is at the top of my list. I even had 9Lives sign on to be an official co-sponsor of the Adoption Village in honor of my 50th Adopt-i-versary. Besides, CatCon is the ultimate place for cat lovers to commune, learn, and experience, so I’m ready to bring some star power and help it shine.

One last question, can you describe your purrfect day?

My ideal day would be chilling in the sun, PURR-using some fan mail, cat napping in my favorite spot, taking calls from my agent, relaxing, a pre-dinner snooze, all surrounded by an unlimited supply of 9Lives. #goodlife
