Let’s Go Global with @Barnaby_Persian

LET’S GO GLOBAL! CONVERSATIONS WITH CATS AND THEIR HUMANS

This is Barnaby.

He’s a man about town (or rather, the house), and the first in our series, Let’s Go Global! This series of interviews will feature felines from all over the world, giving us a bird’s eye view (pun intended) into their busy kitty lives. Sometimes even the humans will get a chance to weigh in. So, without further ado, we present @barnaby_persian.

CatCon: How old are you, and where did you come from?

Barnaby: I’m one and a half and I’m originally from Missouri. One of the small humans in my house calls me ‘That Little Missouri Guy.’

CatCon: How long have you been living with the fam?

I moved into my house on August 4th, 2016, which was the same day that mom started chronicling my life on Instagram.

CatCon: How many humans are in your house, and do you all get along?

Well, there’s MOM who I love more than anyone in the whole entire world because she treats me like the son she never had. Then there’s DAD who is good because I like having another guy around. There are two smaller girl humans who also really love me because they think I’m fluffy and cute. And for some reason I let the smallest human carry me around like a baby for hours at a time sometimes.

I think it’s because she holds me so tightly that I don’t have a choice. I like to always be in the same room as my family, but I prefer that they don’t pick me up. I’m too busy for that.

CatCon: What’s your typical day like?

Well, I wake mom up at 4:00 a.m. because I am hungry and I miss her. Then after breakfast I let mom hold me and brush me for approximately 3 minutes. I eat wet food with gravy, so I like mom to brush it out of my beard afterwards. Then I play with my humans and run around and act like a big scary predator and make them all laugh for a little while. I like to hide behind objects that are much smaller than me and then jump out when the humans least expect it. Often I go and lie under the couch and sleep until dinner time. I used to meow at my PURRents all night long to try to get them to wake up, but I’ve stopped doing that recently. I seem to get more treats now.

CatCon: Are you an early riser?

Is 4 a.m. considered early?

CatCon: What kind of cat are you?

I am a dollface Persian. My family was told I would be small, but the last time I went to the vet I weighed 9.5 lbs. But I think 2 of those lbs. is fluff, so I’m not sure how they factor that in.

CatCon: What famous person – living, dead, or just plain fictional – do you feel you most resemble?

People frequently tell me I look Jon Snow from Game of Thrones.

CatCon: Who is the one person or animal you’d love to meet and why?

I’d like to meet any humans who have treats and who don’t want to pick me up.

CatCon: What’s your motto?

“I’m always very busy.” Whether I’m taking a ten hour nap, or watching dust float, I’m always very busy.
